Sukkat Sh’lomecha: A Shelter of Your Peace

  • Der Nister Downtown Jewish Center 639 South Spring Street 14a Los Angeles, CA, 90014 United States (map)

Sukkot asks us to dwell somewhere fragile and open - a structure with a roof you can see the stars through. Sukkat Shlomecha takes that invitation inward: a half-day retreat of Jewish meditation, chant (niggun), and contemplative prayer, held with tea as a quiet thread of hospitality throughout.

Drawing on the custom of Ushpizin (the symbolic ancestors welcomed into the sukkah as guests) we'll explore what it means to make space for what visits us: memory, longing, presence, uncertainty. No experience with meditation or Hebrew prayer required. Come sit in the shelter of the peace we will co-create for a few hours.
