Meditation on Fire from Water

Four: Fire from Water

He engraved and carved in Her
the Throne of Glory
and all the heavenly hosts,

as it is written:
“He makes the winds His messengers
and flaming fire His ministers.”

— Sefer Yetzirah 1:12

Practice Invitation

Begin by arriving

Let the body and the breath come into the same place at the same time.

Feel the contact beneath you—floor, chair, cushion—and allow the body to settle.

Let the breath move naturally. No shaping yet. Just noticing.

🌬 Ruach — Breath / Wind

Before breath is noticed, before movement takes shape, there is ruach—spirit, wind, life-force.

Not something you create, but something you are already immersed in.

Imagine the Divine Spirit hovering over the surface of the waters: alert, alive, and unhurried. Full of creative potential.

Rest here. Nothing to do.

💧 Mayim — Water

Allow attention to descend from air into water. Notice how much of you is not solid: blood flowing, lymph moving, tears waiting.

Water gathers. Water remembers.

Let whatever arises be held: not solved, not rushed.

If nothing arises, that too is water.

🔥 Esh — Fire from Water

From within the water, a subtle warmth begins to rise.

Not destruction— but rather, engraving.

Fire clarifies, revealing without urgency.

Imagine a throne taking shape within you - not of power, but of presence.

Let the fire serve awareness. Let it warm, not consume.

Sit here in silence for a few breaths.

Creation has taken form.

Breath, water, and fire coexist within you—nothing to complete, nothing to fix. Just this.
